No change to dismissal law

Beecroft’s recommendation to dismiss ‘at will’ would never have worked since it was only intended to cover claims for unfair dismissal and not discrimination.

The government will not implement a raft of controversial policies designed to relax employment laws contained in a report made for the coalition, according to Sajid Javid, the Business Secretary.

The Liberal Democrats had strongly opposed the Beecroft recommendations which included allowing firms to dismiss anyone without giving a reason provided they paid compensation
